“Mirror Cracked”

The New 52 takes a disorienting turn with this May 2015 entry in Greg Pak's run, and Aaron Kuder's cover says it all — a figure in Superman's blue-and-red suit plummets upside-down through a city skyline, his face twisted into a grotesque, hollow-eyed grimace that makes clear this is no ordinary Man of Steel. The inverted composition and the "Bizarro" lettering scrawled across the masthead set an unsettling, almost surreal tone that perfectly suits the story title, "Mirror Cracked." Kuder and colorist Wil Quintana deliver a cover that's visually striking in its wrongness — familiar enough to unsettle, strange enough to linger.
