“The Machines of Crime!”

In "The Machines of Crime!", Dr. Graham Landon's radical isolationist experiment threatens to cut Earth off from the stars, halting all interplanetary travel with a device that disables atomic motors. When Tommy and Brent uncover the truth, they race to reverse the damage—only to confront Landon with a surprising directive to seize any non-terrestrial item in his home. Written by Edmond Hamilton and brought to life by Curt Swan and Ray Burnley, with a striking cover by Win Mortimer, this 1952 classic blends sci-fi suspense with a timely message about openness and connection.

Dr. Graham Landon preaches space isolationism and invents a machine which nullifies the atomic motors of spaceships, and thus prevent interaction with other worlds. Tommy and Brent manage to reverse the effects, and inter-planetary travel is resumed. They visit Landon with an official directive to confiscate anything in his home - walls, food, shoes, televisor devices - that is not solely of Earth origin. He finally admits the error of his views
