“The Man with the Charmed Life!”

In "The Man with the Charmed Life!", Superman once again steps in to save Percival Winters—this time on his hundredth near-death experience—after the man claims a mysterious ring grants him invulnerability. Written by Edmond Hamilton and illustrated by Wayne Boring with inks by Stan Kaye, the story follows Winters’ growing frustration as Superman dismantles his belief in the ring’s power, leading to a surprising twist when the ring ends up in Lois Lane’s hands. The cover, also by Wayne Boring and Stan Kaye, captures the moment of tension as Lane faces danger, unaware of the ring’s true nature.

Superman saves the life of Percival Winters, a star witness against a mobster, on one hundred occasions. Winters is annoyed, as he believes a ring he wears bestows complete protection against danger. Superman proves it to be a fraud, but not before it passes to Lois Lane, who puts herself in reckless danger and has to be saved by Superman.
