“Superman and the Mermaid!”

In "Superman and the Mermaid!", Superman teams up with the real Singing Troubadour—Greg Sanders, aka The Vigilante—when a trio of impostors, the Ace brothers, hijack his fame to pull off robberies across trains, boats, and stages. With the genuine Troubadour wrongly imprisoned and the city on edge, Superman helps clear his name as the duo uncovers the brothers' scheme. Written by Ed Herron and illustrated by Bob Lubbers, with a cover by Al Plastino, this 1949 adventure blends mystery and heroism in a classic tale from the Golden Age.

Someone is impersonating the Singing Troubadour and robbing stages, trains and boats in his name. The three Ace brothers, owners of these transportation lines, are running the scam. While riding through the countryside singing, the real Troubadour (Greg Sanders aka The Vigilante) is arrested and thrown in jail. Escaping, he foils a succession of hold ups, and exposes the Ace brothers for the crooks they are.
