“The Man Who Hated Christmas!”

There's something undeniably warm about this February 1947 cover by penciler Wayne Boring and inker Stan Kaye: Superman grins as he lends a helpful hand to a very stuck Santa Claus wedged into a rooftop chimney, while a wide-eyed elf peeks out from Santa's overflowing toy sack nearby. The holiday spirit practically leaps off the bright yellow background, teasing a story — "The Man Who Hated Christmas!" — that promises the Man of Steel has more than just super-strength to offer the season.
