“The Road to Happiness!”

In "The Road to Happiness!", Superman ventures to Central America with Lois Lane to witness the unveiling of a pre-Mayan pyramid, only to uncover a hidden cavern where people lie frozen in time. With the help of the ancient Haxtl and Empress Nara—whose telepathic abilities reveal a thousand-year-old secret—Superman confronts a machine threatening to erase all progress since their era. Joe Shuster’s distinctive art brings the story to life, while Wayne Boring and Stan Kaye deliver the striking cover.

Clark and Lois are in Central America for the opening of a pre-Mayan pyramid. As Superman, he burrows deep into a cavern where many persons lie as if only in sleep. Haxtl and Empress Nara appear beside him and converse in modern English, explaining that telepathy is one of their accomplishments. He declares that the machine that has kept them alive for a thousand years will obliterate all developments since that date. Superman takes the empress and her advisor on a tour of the modern world, explaining how they try and help all peoples, not just the ruling classes.
