Abbott and Costello encounter Widow Hawkins, who wants to marry one of them. When they attempt to sell her the idea that they are unfit husbands, she counters with the promise of her many children and drawbacks. Abbott proposes a high-power routine to discourage her, but she remains interested. The scheme backfires when Lou accepts a proposal to inherit the widow and her children, leading to comic chaos at a ranch where the widow arrives with all her kids and causes mayhem, culminating in a confrontation with the local sheriff.
