The second chapter of '68 Scars arrives with one of the more quietly unsettling covers of 2012: a battered Vietnam-era soldier's helmet perched on a rifle, covered in skull-and-crossbones imagery, an ace-of-spades death card, tally marks, and grim phrases like "Deader N Dead" and "Fear No Evil" — with a decomposing hand reaching up from below to grip it. Nat Jones renders every weathered detail with grim precision, turning the helmet into a small monument to war and the undead horror lurking beneath it. Mark Kidwell's "Jingle Jangle Morning" promises to keep pushing this Vietnam zombie series into dark, compelling territory.
