A winged, bat-cloaked fiend swoops down on a terrified, wide-eyed victim while a crowd of sinister silhouetted figures looms ominously in the moonlit background — it's a genuinely unsettling cover from Carlos Ezquerra that earns every bit of the tagline "Get Some Fiend-Power Into Your Life." The hapless victim's desperate plea — "No! Please! At least wait till I've read this week's Prog!" — gives the whole thing a gleefully self-aware wit that captures exactly what made 2000 AD and Tornado such a distinctive weekly in 1980. Prog 158 looks like a fine slice of British comics at their most entertainingly macabre.
