The festive season gets wonderfully strange in this 28 December 1985 issue of 2000 AD, whose cover — drawn and inked by Alan Davis — promises exactly what the banner delivers: "Mutants! Mayhem! Mistletoe!" A hulking, armed Father Christmas squares off against a gang of green mutant creatures at the door, while two wide-eyed children clutch a gift between them, caught squarely in the middle of the seasonal standoff. It's a gloriously absurd yuletide tableau, and with Judge Dredd featured inside alongside a Grant/Ezquerra instalment of "Max Bubba," this prog delivers a proper holiday treat for 24p.
