This 2019 prog from Rebellion's long-running British anthology puts a gloriously macabre spin on World War I aviation horror. The cover presents the Black Max as a vampiric figure in a blood-soaked military uniform, goblet of crimson in hand and fanged grin dripping, while a winged creature and a biplane swarm the stormy sky behind him — all rendered in a moody, desaturated palette that makes the blood-red details pop. "The Blood Is the Life for the Black Max" promises something dark and wildly inventive inside, and this cover alone earns its £2.85 without argument.
