From April 1981 comes this wonderfully offbeat prog featuring a cover by Ian Gibson that's hard to look away from: a hulking red robot clutches a wailing baby in one clawed fist while shoving a smaller, spindly blue robot aside with the other, speech bubbles flying as chaos erupts in what appears to be some kind of futuristic shop front. The absurdist humor and energetic linework are pure 2000 AD, and the promise of a Zarjaz cover poster inside makes Prog 209 an especially appealing slice of early-'80s British comics brilliance.
