Judge Dredd stands his ground between a massive, snarling Klegg — the crocodilian alien looming enormous behind him — and a crowd of armed, hostile figures closing in from all sides, with the speech bubble "Back off, creeps… he's SENSITIVE!" setting a perfectly deadpan tone. Chris Weston's cover art crackles with tension and dark humor, packing an alleyway full of weapons, rough characters, and one very toothy reptile into a single electrifying image. Prog 1889 is a fine snapshot of everything 2000 AD does best — gritty Mega-City One atmosphere laced with a wry wit that never takes itself too seriously.
