Prog 1709 of 2000 AD hits hard with a striking cover by Leigh Gallagher, depicting a fearsome reptilian warrior — armored, axe raised high and golden shield in hand — bearing down on a desperate figure who scrambles to hold the creature back against a blazing red sky. The tagline "Is Defoe for the Chop?" sets a suitably ominous tone, while the promise of new thrills from Slaine and Sinister Dexter sweetens the deal. Inside, Simon Spurrier and artist Patrick Goddard bring "The Beast in the Bay" to life, with colors by Chris Blythe and letters by Annie Parkhouse rounding out a solid 2010 package from Rebellion.
