Prog 1492 of 2000 AD announces itself with a wonderfully grotesque cover by Boo Cook — a decaying, skeletal figure in a British naval officer's cap, sporting a magnificent white walrus moustache and a glowing monocle, pointing directly at the reader against a bold Union Jack backdrop. The tagline "Ghoul Britannia" says it all, promising a darkly comic British flavour with the tease that "Harry Kipling's Back!" Inside, John Smith writes and Simon Fraser illustrates, with colours by Gary Caldwell and lettering by Annie Parkhouse. A fine Wednesday treat from the Galaxy's Greatest Comic, dated June 2006.
