Prog 1371 of 2000 AD kicks off "Cincinnati Part 1" with a cover that puts Judge Dredd squarely in the grip of a hulking, pale-skinned brute with wild dark-red hair — the gang threat spelled out by the tagline "Rumble in the Ruins: Dredd Takes On the Gangs of Cincinnati." Greg Staples renders the brutal struggle with real physical weight, Dredd's golden eagle helmet catching the light even as he's being manhandled by a massively muscled foe in a tattered jacket. John Wagner writes and Carl Critchlow handles the interior art, promising the kind of gritty street-level Judge Dredd action that the anthology does so well.
