100 Bullets #95
The cover of this November 2008 Vertigo issue is a striking study in red, white, and gray — Dave Johnson's bold graphic design places a towering, faceless suited figure looming over a smaller silhouetted figure against a sharp, angular cityscape of skyscrapers. The stark two-tone palette and geometric composition give it the feel of a Cold War propaganda poster, capturing the series' tension between power and vulnerability perfectly. Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso's long-running noir masterwork rolls into "Chapter Seven: Ducks" with all the brooding visual atmosphere the series is known for.
