What you’re looking at

This page from *Captain Billy's Whiz Bang* (a 1920s-era humor magazine) contains short satirical jokes targeting domestic life and gender relations. **"Flooter Wins This Argument"** mocks husbands' grumpiness at breakfast—a common marital complaint—by having the surly Mr. Flooterpush deny he's ever complained, which proves Mrs. Flooterpush's point. **"If General Wood would come to Penn"** appears to reference General Leonard Wood, a prominent political figure of the era, in a light political jab. The remaining items are standard bawdy jokes: a young woman getting dunked in a lake, relationship squabbles, and cynical bachelor humor about marriage. The final aphorism—"A girl is a coward when she won't meet you face to face"—reflects the era's expectations of female directness in courtship. Overall, the page emphasizes domestic disputes and romantic miscommunication through crude humor typical of 1920s men's magazines.
