What you’re looking at
This is page 3 of *Captain Billy's Whiz Bang*, a satirical magazine. The visible content consists of two sections: **"Drippings From the Fawcett"** is an editorial note describing the magazine's travels across America searching for a "Famed Pedigreed Bull" (likely a humorous MacGuffin). It name-drops celebrity visits: D.W. Griffith (famous silent film director) and Fatty Arbuckle (silent comedian), positioning the magazine as having insider Hollywood access—a boast designed to impress readers during the 1920s movie boom. **The main article** begins a humorous rural anecdote about the editor's bad morning after his hired hand "Gus" quits. The narrator must do farm chores himself, encountering indignities: sweet-smelling manure wafting through the air and a cow kicking over milk while swishing its tail in his face. This is farm-life comedy—rustic slapstick humor typical of the era's satirical magazines, playing on city readers' romanticized or comedic views of rural work.

If we seem to carry too much gossip in this issue from Hollywood and Los Angeles, please pardon us. We'll be leaving soon for the deer hunting grounds in Minnesota, but in the meantime, of course, we will have to go to San Francisco, "The City of Health, Wealth and Beauty," for first-hand information on Movieland's latest and biggest sensation! WELL, Kind Readers, I woke up the other morning with a grouch and the reason for it is just this: Gus, the hired man, jumped his job and I had to do the morning chores myself. At that moment I could waft forth onto the silvery air the sweetest scent you ever scented. To make matters all the worse, one of the cows kicked over the milk pail when I was half through the job. She also added insult to injury by swishing her mucky old tail in my face. But to get back to Gus. Really, I don't think
