[From the International Bookseller. ] Deadwood Dick Novels. The Deadwood Dick Novels, published by Beadle & Adams, have made such a reputation in popular and library literature that they have become a feature in the trade. They are everywhere, in all the land, and no news-stand, however great or ever so small, can get along without the newest issues and a fair stock of back numbers to answer the ceaseless demand. This demand is wholly due to the intrinsic merit of the story—each number or library issue being a perfect and complete episode or case in the life of the detective, Richard Bristol, whose intrepidity, skill ne’ intelligence make him a “hero,” in the truvet sense. Their nar- rative style is eaceptionally graphic and pre- cise, their incidents are quite out of the com- monplace, and sure to command attention, while the moral is in all instances wholesome and impressive. The wide circulation of such books is proof that, to suit ‘‘the masses,” a book need not be low in moral tone or vicious in tendency, and, if they displace in the trade novels that are of questionable character, they do a good work in a double sense, I oh RO 539 Deadwood Dick, Jr,, in Texas; or, The Ghouls of Galveston, 544 Deadwood Dick, Jr., the Wild West Vidoca; or, Leonora, the Locator, 549 Deadwood Dick, Jz., on His Mettle; or, Cap- tain Crimson-Cowl, the Road Raider, 554 Deadwood Dick, Jr., in Gotham; or Un- raveling a Twisted Skein, 561 Deadwood Dick, Jr., in Boston; or, The Cool Case, 567 Deadwood Dick, Jr., in Philadelphia; or, The Wild West Detective among the Crooks, 572 Deadwood Dick, Jr., in Chicago; or, The Anarcbist’s Daughter. 578 Deadwood Dick, Jf., Afloat; or, The Prisoner of the Weird Isies. 584 Deadwood Dick, Jr,, in Denver, or, Cool Kate, the Queen of Crooks, 590 Deadwood Diek, Jr.’s, Decree; or, The Prince of Purgatory Pass, 595 Deadwood Dick Jr., in Beelzebub’s Basin; or, The Old Man of Mount Mab, 600 Deadwood Dick, Jr., at Coney Island 606 Deadwood Diek, Jr.’s, Leadville Lay; or, Bristol and Bucket’s Boom. 612 Deadwood Dick, Jr., in Detroit; or, Turning the Tables on Satan. 618 Deadwood Dick, Jr., in Cincinnati; or, The Clincher Campaign, 624 Deadwood Dick, Jr., in Nevada; or, The Preacher of Pokerville. 630 Deadwood Dick, Jr., in No Man’s Land. ie -,, ie MH ty Pe ay is i &}* . . ve : Cy F \ , 7 4, , eed is . 636 Deadwood Dick, Jr., After the Queer; or, Sawdust Sam’s Last Green Game.
