Then he stopped the taxi, opened the door and said cheerily: “Well, here we are, sir!” “Is this the end of the rainbow?” in- quired the fare. “Well, not quite, sir,” was his ingeni- ous reply. “The end is really one block west, but the street's torn up and you'll have to get out here.” —New Yorker.
