**Top Cartoon**: "The Ardent Baseball Fan" depicts an airplane dropping potatoes on figures below. The caption reads: "STOP A MINUTE, PETE, WHILE I SEE WHAT THIS GUY DOES. THE BASES ARE FULL." This is wartime satire—likely referencing WWI aerial combat, with the "bases" pun comparing military bombing to baseball strategy. **"Why Not?" Letter**: A serious complaint about shipping delays and spoilage of potatoes from Minnesota, resulting in inflated market prices and financial losses. **Bottom Cartoon**: Two figures fishing or hunting, with caption: "HOORAY, EMMA! IF THAT HASN'T LIT ON YOU, I NEVER WOULD HAVE DONE IT. IT'S A RARE SPECIMEN OF HORNET." This is slapstick humor about an insect landing on someone. The page mixes WWI-era satire with domestic complaints and light humor.
