What you’re looking at
This is not a cartoon page, but rather a financial and donor acknowledgment section for Life magazine's "Babies' Fund"—a charitable initiative supporting impoverished French children (likely post-WWI relief). The text describes how the Fund operates beyond simple subsistence care: donors have educated siblings, trained older children, assisted refugees, and created broader community support networks. It details that approximately $213,601 was raised and converted to French francs for aid distribution. The page lists hundreds of donors—individuals, clubs, organizations, and social groups—contributing to numbered babies' support. Three photographs show the actual beneficiary children: Marie Thérèse Glandut (Baby 2400), the Rannon family with Yvonne (Baby 2495), and Constance Garnier (Baby 2364) with her brother. This demonstrates early-20th-century organized philanthropy and demonstrates how Life used its platform for social welfare advocacy and donor recognition.

24 Good Outside the Fund OT all the good done by the Babies’ Fund is recorded here. For instance, we have just learned that, un- known to Lire, a little body of early contributors for one of the babies has not only cared for that child, but, through correspondence with the mother, is educating an older sister for domestic service. In addition they have arranged for the mechanical training of an older brother, have assisted materially ten other children of friends of the family, and have also helped the children of refugees arriving in the neighborhood where the original baby lives, There are many other similar good deeds inspired by the Fund. Lire has received, in all, $213,601.04, from which there have been remitted to Paris 1,214,369.95 francs. We gratefully acknowledge from Mr. and Mrs. No Sanford, Williamstown, Mass.
