What you’re looking at

This satirical cartoon depicts an idealistic vision of "Universal Peace" turned absurd. A peaceful figure stands on a cloud at the bottom, arms raised hopefully toward heaven. Above, however, chaos reigns: giant menacing creatures (appearing demonic or war-like) loom on either side, while angels and cherubs frantically fly about playing instruments and waving banners. A large bear-like figure on the left plays a violin; winged beings scatter in all directions above. The satire suggests that achieving true universal peace is a naive fantasy—while humans dream of harmony, powerful destructive forces and cosmic chaos make such peace impossible.
