What you’re looking at

This page is primarily **advertisements and filler content** rather than political satire. The main items are: 1. **Remy Electric Company ad**: Celebrates large magneto contracts with Buick and Overland automobile manufacturers for 1910 models—straightforward industrial advertising. 2. **"The Literary Zoo"**: A humorous essay (continued from previous page) satirizing the attribution of anonymous works to famous authors. It mocks the tendency to guess authorship based on sentiment rather than evidence, using examples like assuming Mark Twain wrote something because it "feels" like him. The satire targets lazy literary criticism. 3. **"The Seven Ages of Greatness"**: A brief comic list mocking how celebrities become commercialized—long hair, branded cigars, whiskey with their names, etc. The remaining content includes tourist automobile insurance advertising and product advertisements (Chiclets gum, John Jameson Whiskey). There are no significant political cartoons on this page—it's a typical early 1910s magazine mix of advertising, light humor, and social commentary.

Two Largest The two largest contracts in the history of magneto manufacturing have been awarded the Remy Electric Company, makers of the Remy High Tension Magneto. Thirty thousand magnetos are called for by the contract of the Buick Motor Company, and sixteen thousand by the contract of the Overland Automobile Company. Both are for 1910 models, The fact that the Remy Magneto is stand- ard equipment on the cars of these companies this season adds significance to these large orders. No higher testimony of a magneto’s merits could be given. Three out of every five 1909 American cars having magneto ignition are equipped with the Remy. Motorists are assured of the best igni- tion by specifying the magneto preferred in such large numbers by manufacturers. We make fittings for many old models as well as new. Address Department 19. The historical work, especially Joan of Arc, 1 attribute to Col. Henry Watterson. In fact, it is possible to bring convincing proof of this hypothesis. The book on Christian Science was plainly written by Mr. Alfred Farlow, largely with a view to advertising and increasing the sales of Science and Health. In this case the proof is as ample as it is simple. The incontro- vertible acrostics are on almost every page. Finally we may notice a group of picturesque antivivisection papers. These were obviously produced by the editor of Lirz, whose genial Prejudice on this subject is well known. Of course, it is easy to say that Mark Twain is Mr. Clemens, and Mr. Clemens is Mark Twain. Magneto Contracts Eee It is doubtless true as far as it goes. It is easy to say that Mr. Clemens might have written all that stuff. So Shakespeare might have written King John, Mrs. E might have written Science and Health, Peltiah Webster might have written the Constitution of the United States, Moses might have written the Pentateuch, or Ibert Hubbard might have written Dewitt Tal- *s sermons; but the question is, did they? For instance, you want a book on a biographi- cal or historical subject. You look about for a good hack to produce the MS.
