- LIFE: TOMBSTONE SOCIETY. DOINGS OF THE GAY IN ARIZONA'S METROPOLIS, (Special Correspondence.) INCE Easter the keno game at Big Charlie's begins at eight in- stead of nine, as heretofore, BILL SKINNER is endeavoring to make a list of Tombstone’s Four Hundred. The task is extremely difficult. He no sooner reaches the neighborhood of four hundred names than the vigilants turn out and he is obliged to mark out fifteen or twenty as #deceased. You have our sympathy, Bill. ANOTHER of our society buds has been taken from us. Grizzly Adams, of Skull Gulch, was last night quietly married to pretty Li Todd of this place. Mr. Adams comes from an excellent family, and is in every way worthy of the young lady. It will be remem- bered that he shot his former wife at Skull Gulch last summer while on a drunk. Our good wishes go with the happy couple. SEVERAL of our ultra-fashionable young men are making a determined effort to intro- duce the style of wearing their pants outside of their boots. We are somewhat opposed to innovations. It would not be well, we believe, to introduce Parisian fashions too rapidly, but this style might be permitted at weddings and other ceremonious affairs. THE “Progressive Poker Club” met last week at old man Skinner's, and were entertained royally by that prince of hosts. The prizes were exceptionally beautiful, one being an uncracked looking-glass, a much-prized rarity. Crackers, sauerkraut and whisky were served throughout the evening without stint. There is no family whose position in Tombstone society is more secure than old man Skinner's. THE “ United Order of Cowboys” held their first annual banquet at the Chinaman's on Monday evening. Covers were laid for forty, but only thirty-seven were present. It was agreed that the portions of the absent members should be equally divided among those present, and by this equitable arrangement, what threatened at the time to be aserious disturbance was averted. It is just such delicate diplomacy as this that is making Tombstone society famous throughout the country. The affair passed off very pleasantly, The regrets of the absent members were presented by a committee of vigilants. It was merely another affair about a horse. The organization passed resolu- tions of sympathy, and voted to attend the funeral jn a body. THE “ Tombstone Society for the Advancemet vf Litexature ” met at the Art Rooms last night. A paper was read by Shorty Krench on Chaucer. He prefaced his remarks by a few words, explain how he came to be considered an authority on Chaucer. He was in the neighborhood of Showdown, it seems, when the stage bi ——— and the mails robbed last fall. Among the larger parcels inf bags was a volume of Chaucer.° A sense of exquisite deli PATENT MEDICINE FRITZ, AND HOW LIFE WAS SAVED. A Story OF THE WILD WEST. comicbooks.com
