HARPER’S WEEKLY, FOR THE CAMPAIGN OF 1884, From July 19 to Nov. 8 (17 Weeks,) will be mailed to Campaign Clubs on Receipt of $1.50, Og Five Cortes—orDERED AT ONE TIME—$r.40 EACH. Harper's WEEKLY has for many years maintained tfe twofold character of an acknowledged leader of public opinion, and of a family journal of the highest rank in point of literary and artistic excellence. Independent of partisan control, it is the friend and advocate of all measures that tend to the purification of politics, to the establishment of Civil Service re- forms, to the spread of knowledge and intelligence among tho people, and to the general advancement of humanity. The Republican Party, as the organ- ized political exponent of these principles, has received its cordial sympathy and support; but HARPER'S WEEKLY has never surrendered into party keeping the right of private judgment, nor will it hesitate to criticise or condemn whatever, within or without party lines, may appear to be at variance with the funda- mental principles of right. Harrer’s WEEKLY believes the nomination of James G. BLAINE to have been a great political mis- take, and that his election would, at this critical period of the nation’s history, endanger the influence of Re- publican principles. ‘It believes that the election of GROVER CLEVELAND, who, as the Governor of the State of New York, has evinced the executive qualities of a sagacious, unpartisan statesman, would promote the objects for which the Republican’ Party has con- tended, and he will therefore receive the earnest and cordial support of HARPER'S WEEKLY. In literature Harrer’s Weex.y aims to furnish a rich ty of reading-matter, at once instructive and enter- . Its serials, short stories, sketches and poems, by fe and foreign authors of popularity and distinction, give it a character unequalled among illustrated weekly journals, The most fastidious taste will find nothing in its pages to which objection can be made. ‘The illustrations in HaRPeR’s WEEKLY present an inex- haustible range of subjects, Harper's Weexty is thus, from week to week, a pictorial chronicle of the time, It will be the aim of its conductors in the future, as it has been in the past, to keep Harrer'’s WEEKLY in the van of illustrated weekly journals, and to present a constant improvement in all those features which have gained for it the confidence, sympathy and support of its large army of readers. Hanrer's Weexcy for July 19, will begin an illustrated serial story by the popular novelist Captain HawLey Swarr, entitled “From Post to Finish; a Racing Romance.” 10 CENTS A NUMBER ; $4.00 A YEAR.
