Grass—A Persian tribe proves the luxury of rapid transit. Three Star and Scotch LonG film row, where A the twelve-mile limit is a speed law and the Eighteenth Amendment a broken one, in short, Broad- way, where the traffic is thick and the public is “thicker,” anything goes. Therefore, a bad picture, similar to a dog biting a man, is not news, but a good one has the proverbial news and editorial value of a man biting a dog. And while, as I said, everything goes, it is seldom that such a pleasing and true to life picture as “Welcome Home” arrive: “Welcome Home” is an un- conventional triangle play on two counts: (1) it’s about a husband and wife who love cach other like the deuce, (2) the third party is not Barbara La Marr, but the young hus- band’s father who, being re- duced in circumstances, comes to live with his son. Luke Cosgrave as the old father is superb, Wamer Bax- ter as the husband gives a sympathetic and ingratiating performance and Lois (Bright- eyes) Wilson is simply fine.
