A few days afterward, this gummy substance was gone and in its stead were a lot of little black creatures wriggling in the water. They were After that, they did not eat any- thing for quite awhile, but then they ate another of their number, then another and another until there were only four left. In the meantime, they had changed. When Johnny caught them, they had very long tails and their bodies were so small they looked like small blots of ink. By and by, their tails grew shorter and shorter, and tiny marks came on their stomach which after awhile turned out to be little legs. the back yard, they saw the tiny frogs, and ate up all four of them.
