DGE om- leus February 15, 1919 Mrs. Clatterby Says Good-bye By J. L. Hannover me think if I have thing, before I say good-bye; but if I have I will not think of it until I am the train. Then [ will remember half a dozen things I wanted to speak of before I vent away and—did I tell you to be sure and sce to it that the maid emptied the pan for the vater ler the ice chest? I did? Iam glad 1 did for she is so careless. I never go to sister Mary’s and see her self-emptying refrigerator without wishing that we had one like it. Iam so glad I thought to tell you to sce that the pan catching the water is emptied and—seems to me there is something else I wanted to speak to you about, but it has gone from me now. ‘There is so much to think of when one is leav ing home for two whole weeks and—I told you t that the back door is to be sure and sce to it t locked nights. The maid is so careless about it. It seems so strange that one cannot get a maid with the least sense of responsibility and well, good-bye! Oh, yes! [knew that there was something I wanted to remind you of. My dressmaker told me she would telephone me sometime this week when she could give me a couple of days, and I told her I was going away and to ‘phone cither before cight in the morning, when you suld be at home, or after six in the evening, if she docs you must put down the dates she gives you so that I will know what they ure when I come home. I gave her my address for the time [ was away and told her she'd better drop me a postal telling me the dates, but likely enough she will forget it and so I told her to ‘phone to the house to make doubly sure. After all, it would do just as well if I aited until I got home and then ‘phoned her for the dates, but so long as she said she would phone vou'd better attend to it. And if you could think to ask her how many yards of fifty- four inch goods I will need, it might—but then she said it would be fully a month before she could come and so I will have a couple of weeks after I get home to talk to her. Another thing: lease see that the milkman changes the milk order. I put a note in one of the jars and also phoned him to leave only two quarts a day while I am gone. Taking two of the children vith me makes three less in the family, so of course we will not need so much, but I know that once when [ left a note for him to leave an extra quart he didn’t do it, and so T can’t OH, YOU SKINNY!
