# Calgary Club Woman's Blue Book (c. 1913)

This is a directory and historical account of Calgary women's civic organizations, compiled by the Calgary Women's Press Club. Introduced by Mrs. Arthur Murphy ("Janey Canuck"), President of the Canadian Women's Press Club, the publication surveys fifty-one affiliated societies operating in Calgary as of 1912-1913.

The Local Council of Women, led by President Mrs. R. R. Jamieson, coordinates women's organizations through standing committees addressing legislative reform, immigration, child welfare, public health, labor employment, peace, and playground development. Notable achievements include establishing a Labor Bureau to place domestic workers, securing female representation on the School Board and appointment of a Police Matron, and organizing a Vacant Lots Garden Club. An Equal Franchise Committee presented over 40,000 petition signatures for women's voting rights to the provincial legislature.

The Calgary Branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society, affiliated with the British Red Cross, lists its officers and administrative structure. The document emphasizes organized women's civic contribution during wartime.
