Atentado en el Tiempo (Attack in Time), published by Ediciones Toray in 1971, presents a science fiction narrative set in 1958 Los Angeles. The story follows Dr. William Durk, an eminent surgeon who, after exhausting work at a hospital, drives to his sister Esther's home to examine her son Thomas for a supposed appendicitis (diagnosed as mere indigestion). Durk, drowsy from fatigue, falls asleep at the wheel on his return journey and crashes his car into a ravine. Critically injured, he is brought to the hospital where his colleague Dr. Harry Emerlan and hospital director Emil Fatherman place Durk into hibernation to save his life from severe shock. Upon awakening, Durk finds himself in an unfamiliar room with a nurse tending to him, suggesting temporal displacement or advanced medical intervention.
