Brigitte en Acción

· 1965

This issue of the Spanish-language pulp magazine Brigitte en Acción contains the story "Si parla italiano" by Lou Carrigan (1965). Brigitte Montfort, a glamorous New York newspaper reporter, is summoned by her editor Miky Grogan, who arranges a trip to Rome ostensibly to improve her Italian. Unbeknownst to her initially, U.S. intelligence officer Pitzer arrives at her apartment to reveal the actual assignment: she must contact CIA agent Young Jones in Rome, who is investigating two suspicious men collecting ten-thousand-dollar bills. Pitzer provides her hotel details, five thousand dollars, and Jones's location at a pension on Via Margutta. Brigitte accepts the covert mission with her typical witty skepticism. The narrative continues with her arrival in Rome and the beginning of her undercover investigation.
