# Beyond Fantasy Fiction: November 1953, Issue 3

This issue, edited by H. L. Gold, features "The Real People," a novella by Algis Budrys about Fred Delman, a man recovering from a serious car accident. Delman awakens in a hospital bed a week after being hit by an ice cream truck, discovering his injuries have healed with impossible speed—he recalls weeks of agonizing recovery, surgery, and broken bones, yet the doctors insist he suffered only minor injuries requiring no serious treatment. The contradiction deepens when the physicians fail to recognize him after discharge, suggesting the traumatic memories themselves may be false or fabricated. The issue also includes novelets: "House...Wife" by Boyd Ellanby and "My Darling Hecate" by Wyman Guin; and short stories by Richard Deming, Zenna Henderson, Ted Reynolds, Franklin Gregory, and Richard Matheson.
