Bedtime Stories, October 1937
This pulp magazine issue contains eight short stories. "Let's Be Informal!" by Tom Kane depicts Steve, a playwright living in a lighthouse, discovering Ruth—an attractive fugitive fleeing a persistent suitor named Albert—stowed away in his boat. After bringing her ashore during a storm, Steve struggles with attraction as Ruth invades his solitary work space. "The Irish in Her" by Patsy Hunt and "Pleasure Comes First" by Arthur Wallace follow. Robert Leslie Bellem contributes "Treasure in Undies," while Grace Bennett, Mitzi Mason, Gregory Hawthorne, and Phyllis Hoerner provide stories titled "Beach Parade," "Completely Candid!," "American Methods," and "Reforming Della" respectively. Additional features include a reader letters section with personal advertisements, humor pieces, cartoons, and a photo prize contest. The issue also prominently advertises Dr. Hutton's sex instruction manual "Sex Technique in Marriage," emphasizing practical marital guidance through diagrams and direct discussion of sexual positions and frequency.
