# Roaring Ralph Rockwood, the Reckless Ranger
This issue features the opening installment of Harry St. George's "Roaring Ralph Rockwood, the Reckless Ranger," a western pulp serial. The narrative follows the titular ranger—a skilled, audacious marksman—as he evades capture by a band of enemies called the Prairie Pests on horseback, killing multiple pursuers before escaping under moonlight. The action then shifts to a wagon train of fourteen men encamped on the prairie, transporting gold and a mysterious seventh wagon guarded closely. Major Handy, a young soldier, investigates strange whistling signals near the camp and nearly shoots a prowling scout. The guide Arkansaw is revealed as a traitor: he secretly corresponds with Arizona Dave, a member of a gang planning to raid the train. Arkansaw discusses the mysterious treasure wagon and mentions a captain leading the operation. The serial combines frontier action, military elements, and intrigue.
