# Museum Catalog Note
The Tiger of Taos; or, Wild Kate, Dandy Rock's Angel by George Waldo Browne is a Western serial appearing in Beadle and Adams' weekly publication (No. 99, June 17, 1879). The story opens with two conspirators—Joe Corinth, a vengeful outlaw, and San Mullre, a Mexican seeking revenge for a stolen bride—meeting in a cave during a violent storm to plot the murder of "Dandy Rock" Randel and the abduction of Colonel Raymun's daughter. The narrative shifts to a young buckskinned stranger observing a woman fleeing across the prairie, pursued by desperadoes. When her horse collapses, he intervenes with rifle drawn, confronting the leader and his gang. The woman begs him to escape, recognizing the danger he faces against overwhelming odds.
