# AMAZING STORIES, February 1953
This issue features five science fiction stories. "Outlaw in the Sky," a 40,000-word novel by Guy Archette (illustrated by Dick Francis), opens the issue, following young Cory Balleau, a sensitive boy traveling with his ailing mother on a half-track train crossing Mars. The story details the harsh pioneer society aboard this mobile community, mixing prosperous traders, desperate dreamers, scouts, and gamblers against the Martian landscape.
"The Floating Lords" by Chester S. Geier (6,000 words) concerns mysterious beings dwelling far beyond known space. "The Lady Killer" (11,000 words) by Franklin Bahl—illustrated by Ed Emsler—centers on a man named Paul who becomes invisible after romantic entanglements, with unforeseen consequences. "The Curse" by Ivor Jorgensen describes a man harboring an internal horror he locks away. "You Can't Stay Here" by Walt Crain addresses extraterrestrial contact that produces tragic misunderstandings. "The Heat's On" by Clyde Woodruff presents a murder mystery involving impossible combustion.
The issue also includes a non-fiction column "The Observatory" discussing historical science fiction writers, and articles on pre-stressed concrete and rocketry advancement.
