This October 10, 1924 issue of Adventure contains ten stories by established pulp writers. The lead novelette, "Forward" by Harold Lamb, concerns a Don Cossack sotnik named Ivak summoned by Empress Catherine the Great to escort a mysterious English officer, Lieutenant Edwards, and a high officer named Pavel to the Black Sea in 1788. The story opens with Ivak receiving his orders through fog-shrouded St. Petersburg and encountering Edwards attempting to ride a fractious roan horse in a courtyard. Additional fiction includes Talbot Mundy's serial "Om" (Part 1), set in India with protagonist Omrinotny receiving summons from British Secret Service; Alvin F. Harrow's "The Battle of the Kettles," an Ohio frontier novelette; Walter J. Coburn's Western "The Grubi-Line"; William Byron Mowery's fur-country tale "The Cannikin Clink"; and J. Allan Dunn's concluded serial "Go-Fever," set in Australia. The issue also features historical and geographical content alongside fiction.
