This April 1930 issue of Adventure magazine contains a complete novel and several short stories set in exotic locales. The featured work is "Conquest" by J.D. Newsom, a novel of the French Foreign Legion set in the sun-blasted wastes of Morocco. It follows Captain Emile Langevin, a liaison officer stationed in the remote garrison of Ain-Hareb, who manages relations between the French military and the Beni-Yaffara tribes, including the treacherous clan of Ahmed Zogwar. When Zogwar unexpectedly arrives at Langevin's blockhouse seeking medical aid for his dying twelve-year-old son, he offers complete loyalty of his ninety armed men in exchange for the captain's help. The issue also includes "The Boat" by Robert Carse (Antarctic adventure), "Below Zero" by Harold Titus (North Woods serial, part III), "Drawing Room B" by Allan Vaughan Elston (railroad murder), and shorter pieces by B.M. Bower, Sidney Herschel Small, and others featuring adventure and exotic settings.
