This document is a United States Air Force UFO sighting report dated October 12, 1965, filed by Captain David W. Evans, Airdrome Officer at Stewart Air Force Base, New York. A sixteen-year-old civilian observer from Montgomery, New York reported witnessing an unidentified flying object between 1915-2000 hours. The witness described a round, red flashing light resembling a revolving wheel, approximately the size of a silver dollar, positioned 5,000-6,000 feet high. The object moved rapidly in ascending and descending motions, emitting a deep whine sound when overhead. It approached from the east, circled, and disappeared to the northeast, remaining visible for approximately ten minutes. The investigating officer concluded the sighting was consistent with helicopter CH3C conducting instrument landing system approaches in the vicinity at the reported time, equipped with anti-collision lighting.
