This is not a pulp magazine issue, but rather a U.S. Air Force official record (Project 10073) documenting a UFO sighting report dated August 12, 1965. The report describes an incident where Major Jack D. Bond, flying as a passenger in a T-29B aircraft out of Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, observed an unidentified object during a local transition flight. Bond, with instructor pilot Captain Cahoon and pilot Captain Dixon aboard, sighted the object at approximately 11:19 AM while beginning a GCA approach near Springfield. The object maneuvered in an undulating pattern, moved eastward, displayed erratic speeds increasing with each ascent, and ultimately accelerated away at 600+ knots before disappearing into haze. The official conclusion attributed the sighting to a mirage caused by sunlight reflection on the aircraft and atmospheric conditions present.
