It concerns an incident in Bristol, Rhode Island, where two eleven-year-old boys reported finding objects that fell from the sky with a "whooshing sound" on October 20, 1962. One boy claimed the object felt warm. The materials were submitted to authorities at the Naval Base in Newport and then forwarded to the Air Force for analysis. Laboratory testing identified the samples as Nylon Type 66, polystyrene, and polyethylene—common plastic materials. Investigators concluded the objects were "tailings" or waste scraps from industrial extrusion machines manufacturing plastic products, likely from local wire and cable manufacturers. Tests showed no exposure to space environments. The official assessment classified the boys' account as a hoax, attributing the materials to industrial plastic waste.
