· August 1961

This document is not a pulp magazine but a U.S. Air Force UFO sighting report form (ATIC Form 339) from 1961. It contains a Project 10073 record card documenting a civilian ground visual observation in Pleasant, North Carolina on August 30, 1961. The sighting lasted fifteen minutes. A single light—no brighter than stars—appeared in the west and disappeared in the south on a straight flight path, exhibiting occasional flickering and pulsation. Elevation ranged from twenty to thirty degrees. One of two observers believed it to be a satellite. Official conclusions marked it as possibly astronomical, likely a satellite, with pulsating and wavering effects attributed to atmospheric conditions. The report remained unconfirmed with space track. The form includes detailed witness questionnaires requesting information about observation duration, weather conditions, object appearance, motion, and observer location and background.
