Cuphea calophylla Cham. & Schltdl.

This is a pressed herbarium specimen, not a cartoon or caricature. It shows a dried plant — Cuphea calophylla (Lythraceae) — mounted on archival paper with stems, leaves, and remnant flowers arranged across the sheet. Labels identify it as collected in Central Paraguay by Thos. Morong (1885–1890), originally catalogued as Cuphea spicata Cav. (no. 136), distributed from Columbia College's herbarium, and re-determined by Shirey A. Graham in February 2002. A color-calibration chart and centimeter scale accompany the mount. No satirical content, printmaking tradition, or caricature is present. Writing a comic-art wall label for this object would be fabrication.
