Cartoons & Caricature

Lafoensia vandelliana subsp. vandelliana Cham. & Schltdl.

· Collected 18 November 1978; determined 1995

This is a herbarium specimen sheet, not a political cartoon or caricature, and cannot be described as one. The image shows pressed botanical material — woody branches with dried, darkened leaves — mounted on archive paper alongside bark fragments, a color calibration chart, a metric scale rule, and two handwritten determination labels identifying the plant as Lafoensia vandelliana subsp. vandelliana (family Lythraceae), collected in Paraguay's Cordillera region. The Natural History Museum, London (BM accession 000512663) holds the sheet. No satirical, caricature, or printmaking tradition applies here. Writing a fabricated wall label for a comic-art exhibition would misrepresent a scientific primary source.
