Cordia discolor Cham. (Herbarium Specimen)

· 1913

This is not a cartoon or caricature but a botanical herbarium specimen — a pressed and mounted branch of Cordia discolor Cham. (Boraginaceae), collected in Paraguaria Centralis by Dr. E. Hassler and documented in his Plantae Paraguarienses series (no. 4658a, 1913). The sheet carries handwritten determinations, a Royal Botanic Gardens stamp, and a color-calibration strip added by a later digitizing institution. It belongs to the tradition of scientific natural history illustration and specimen preservation, not to the print-satire lineage of Hogarth, Gillray, or Daumier. No satirical content, caricature, or printmaking technique relevant to comics history is present in this image.
