Plagiobothrys chorisianus (Cham. & Schltdl.) Greene

· Collected c. 1853; mounted herbarium specimen

This is a pressed-plant herbarium sheet, not a political cartoon or caricature. It shows three dried specimens of Plagiobothrys chorisianus, a small bristly annual in the borage family, mounted on white herbarium paper with handwritten determination labels and a color-calibration strip. No satirical imagery, printmaking technique, or caricature tradition is present or applicable here. Writing a wall label framing this botanical specimen as political satire would be factually false. The object belongs to the history of natural-history collecting — Chamisso and Schlechtendal's systematic botany, Kew's curation practice — not to the Hogarth–Gillray–Daumier lineage from which comics descend.
