Two Sketches, Scott Cottage

Architect Arnold William Brunner's preliminary sketches for Scott Cottage reveal the design process behind residential architecture of the Gilded Age. The left drawing shows an exterior perspective with detailed ornamentation—a ornamental post, railings, and window treatments rendered in ink and wash. At right, a window elevation provides constructional specificity.
