Selwyn Seyfu Hinds
Selwyn Seyfu Hinds is an American writer and producer whose work spans comics, television, and journalism. Born in the United States, he first gained prominence as editor-in-chief of the hip-hop magazine *The Source*. In comics, he is best known for his work on the Vertigo series *Dominique Laveau: Voodoo Child*, which he wrote for ten issues between 2012 and 2013. He also contributed to *American Vampire* and the follow-up *Dominique Laveau, Voodoo Child: Requiem*. His writing is marked by a blend of supernatural horror and cultural specificity, often exploring themes of identity and heritage. Hinds later moved into television, writing for Jordan Peele’s 2019 revival of *The Twilight Zone* and being tapped to adapt Nnedi Okorafor’s novel *Who Fears Death?* as a series, with George R. R. Martin executive producing. He is also the creator and showrunner of the Hulu limited series *Washington Black* (2025), based on Esi Edugyan’s novel. Hinds continues to work across media, bringing a journalist’s rigor and a storyteller’s imagination to his projects.
